Bird with Cloud Necklace
On this intricately detailed necklace, the shape of meadlowlark is cut out of rich green copper with a silver heart on the bird and on silver background. Made from the original roof of the Kansas State Capitol, the roof was replaced in 2013. The copper was made available to the Kansas Historical Society and Kansas Historical Foundation for use in products to be sold in the Capitol Store. Since the early 20th century Kansas has been called the “Wheat State,” the state’s most important crop. By Bailey Kivett of Lawrence, Kansas.
