Kansas Flag Ornament
This colorful brass and enamel ornament was inspired by the Kansas flag. A bill passed in 1927 designating the form and color of the flag, which were a blue field with the 1861 state seal. The state crest, an insignia adopted in 1923, placed above, featured a sunflower and a bar symbolizing the Louisiana Purchase. In 1961 Kansas was added to the bottom of the flag. Kansas is often called the sunflower state, for the state flower.
