Indians of Kansas: The Euro-American Invasion and Conquest of Indian Kansas by William E. Unrau is a concise and illustrated history of the state's first inhabitants. The work spans prehistoric times through the 20th century. Dr. Unrau is a a native Kansan, who served as a Distinguished Professor of History Emeritus at Wichita State University. He is the author of several historical articles and books, including Kansa Indians, The End of Indian Kansas: A history of Cultural Revolution, 1854-1971, and White Man’s Wicked Water: The Alcohol Trade and Prohibition in Indian Country, 1802-1892. He received the Bethany College Alumni Award of Merit from his alma mater in 1997. Dr. Unrau also served on the Kansas Historical Society board of directors.
