2009 Official Kansas Ornament for Washington, D.C.  The 2009 Official Ornament for Washington, D.C. features the Flint Hills, one of nine original paintings of the Kansas Scenic Byways by internationally-recognized artist Stan Herd in the Kansas Lottery's Kansas-themed project, Painted Byways. Native Kansas Stan Herd, an accomplished fine art painter also known for his earthwork creations said, "I have spent my life traveling the many back roads of Kansas. I was amazed at the beauty during this journey to capture the uniqueness of each byway. It is an honor to create these paintings for the Lottery's unique project and to be represented on the Kansas Ornaments."
